Not much can be drawn from the original trailer for Assassin’s Creed Rogue, the next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise coming only to last gen consoles this fall. We already have heard about Assassin’s Creed Unity the first installment specifically coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which we have known about for quite a bit of time.

Fans of the AC franchise that have not already purchased a next gen consoles were until late left in the cold for a new AC game. In turn there was outcry for Unity to come out on last gen consoles, but Ubisoft did them one better and is producing a last gen specific title with a new story and protagonist.

In Assassin’s Creed Rogue we take our first steps in the shows of an Assassin turned Templar. During the violence and shadows of the French and Indian War, Shay Patrick Cormac, a fearless young member of the Assassins, undergoes a dark transformation that will forever shape the future of the colonies. In what is being called “the darkest chapter of the Assassin’s Creed franchise” we will get to experience what it is like to be an Assassin hunter using Templar weaponry. Much of which has never before been used in the franchise.

The setting opens up a lot of possible historical context that could make for an amazing story. I hope that Ubisoft puts in a lot of work for this game, because I’ve played all the Assassin’s creed games and though 3 had a fantastic story the lackluster gameplay and immense amount of handholding throughout the first 4 ½ hours made that game less than enjoyable, and I can’t even recall what happened in Assassin’s Creed 4 though I had tons of fun playing it.

Hopefully we will be able to get our first looks at the story in the coming months.
Assassin’s Creed Rouge will be available on November 11th, 2014.
